Abstract Individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) may face challenges with reporting past behavior. Although some behavior-analytic studies have shown success with increasing these reports, the use of materials within activities that do not repeat has not been assessed (e.g., Shillingsburg et al., 2017). Thus, the purpose of the current study was to expand upon previous research (e.g., Shillingsburg et al. 2017; 2019) by utilizing novel materials within activities completed and examining the use of partial textual stimuli within an interactive task to increase reports of past behavior for one child with autism. The results showed an increase in reports of past behavior following intervention across three activities as well as an increase in varied responses.
Forty years after the publication of the book “Behavior theory: A field and parametric analysis” by Emilio Ribes Iñesta and Francisco López Valadez, the impact of this work is discussed, not only in the confirmation of the object of study of psychology previously proposed by J. R. Kantor (1924, 1926) but also in the proposal of a taxonomy that organized, in five levels of different quality and complexity, the behavior of organisms. To the extent that the work above recognized the logical-conceptual existence of different types of contact media as enablers of differential interactions (i.e., physicochemical, ecological, and conventional), it has clarified the analytical phenomena specific to the psychological discipline, the distinction between individual and social behavior —the latter being exclusively human— as well as the points of contact and collaboration with bordering disciplines (i.e., biology and social-historical science). From a critical perspective on operant conditioning, this paper examines how the assumptions of TC have contributed to the understanding of social behavior, culminating in the emergence and development of a multidisciplinary area of collaboration between psychology and social-historical science: sociopsychology.

AbstractThe geographic distribution and gender of authors who have published in behavior‐analytic journals have been analyzed at different points. Yet little is known about the geographic and gender diversity of editorial board members who have served on prominent behavior‐analytic journals. We analyzed the regional and gender distribution of editorial board members—editors in chief, associate editors, and members of editorial boards—serving at the Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, and Perspectives on Behavior Science from 2000 to 2023. Our analysis showed that (a) the journals have been led primarily by editors with U.S. affiliations, (b) women have been underrepresented at the editor‐in‐chief and associate‐editor levels, and (c) the gender gap has steadily decreased among editorial board members in recent years. We discuss the importance of diversity in the editorial leadership of academic journals and offer suggestions for expediting change.

AbstractPrevious research has demonstrated the displacement of leisure items by edible items in the context of preference assessments. Recent research has further evaluated this phenomenon by manipulating the magnitude of access to leisure items and evaluating the effect on preference when given the option between leisure and edible items (e.g., Clark et al., 2020). The current study replicated and extended Clark et al. (2020) by including a reversal design to evaluate the effects of differential magnitudes on participants' selection of a leisure item relative to an edible item. Increases in the duration of access to the leisure item resulted in participants choosing the leisure item over the edible item. Implications for practice and future research are discussed.
